El Cultivo de la Mente

El Cultivo de la Mente Milan Conic in concert performance film

Milan Conić (SRB) is a jazz pianist and composer based in Linz, Austria, since 2017.
He studied classical and popular piano in Luhansk (Ukraine), Vienna Conservatory, and later jazz piano and composition at the Anton Bruckner Private University with Dejan Pečenko, Martin Stepanik, and Christoph Cech. In 2025, he released his debut EP M3rd4, featuring Chris Kronreif, Fabian Rucker, Peter Herbert, and Max Plattner, presenting original compositions based on his research into Messiaen’s Mode 3. The same year, he released an EP with the band Tishina (with Viviane Töbich), composed the soundtrack for the performance movie El Cultivo de la Mente, and founded the electronic duo The Unsettled with producer J SAN.

Since 2023, he has been leading the cultural association Linz in2 Jazz and teaching piano at the Music School of the City of Linz. He is currently completing his Master’s studies at the Anton Bruckner Private University.

M3rd4

Set for release in 2025. Inspired by Olivier Messiaen’s Mode 3 from the “modes of limited transposition,” Conic explores its harmonic and melodic possibilities through five original compositions. For the recording, he is joined by Chris Kronreif (saxophone), Fabian Rucker (saxophone), Peter Herbert (double bass), and Max Plattner (drums), creating an ensemble sound that is both exploratory and grounded in strong musical interplay.

TISHINA

Their sound blends sentimental pop and jazz, enriched with modern harmonies that add both depth and a contemporary edge. Hip-hop grooves and electronic elements further expand the musical palette, giving their songs variety and drive. Together with their six-piece band, Tishina creates a soundscape that moves between gentle melancholy, vibrant rhythms, and dynamic tension. Debut EP “Voice in the Wild” coming out… Viviane Töbich Vocals, Simon Hladik Saxophone, Toma Ivanov Guitar, Milan Conic Keys, Jakob Preßmair E-bass, Jonas Kocnik Drums.

VIVIANE

Honest, vulnerable lyrics embedded in soft, dark tones and an energetic sonic landscape. From this field of tension emerges a musical language that weaves together contemporary jazz, fusion, and modern pop. Organic details, atmospheric textures, and a voice that floats between intimacy and expressive power shape a soundscape that is at once grounded, intense, and immediately moving.

Linz in2 jazz

The project Linz in2 Jazz began in March 2021 as a platform for promoting and organizing concerts and performances by current and former ABPU students as well as their teachers. Its aim was to strengthen the jazz and improvised music scene in Linz and to build a vibrant jazz community.

In late 2023, Milan Conić and Daniel Neumann officially founded the association (Verein). Today, Milan works together with Julia Hofinger and Marc Brunnbauer continuing to expand and develop the concept further.

“As founder and chairman of the association, I am proud and grateful to everyone who has participated and collaborated with us so far. At the same time, I warmly invite all musicians, listeners, and supporters who share our passion for jazz and improvised music to join us on this journey.”

— Milan Conić, chairperson
